Patrick and I took a road trip out to IKEA in Pittsburgh this afternoon. We were in search a shelving unit to put at the end of our bed, we found one that can lay either horizontal or vertical. We will lay it  horizontal at the end of our bed. The shelving unit is the same color as our bed and they are both from IKEA so it should look great. We just need to assemble it, but that probably won’t happen until Patrick comes home from work tomorrow evening. We are just going to relax the rest of this evening. I am going to go through clothes and other things to take to the Goodwill. We have too much stuff and not enough room and I feel the need to go some housekeeping.

Housekeeping in your home and your body is always good. Eating as clean as you can (fruits, veggies, lean meats), exercising, getting plenty of sleep, living as stressful as possible, and drinking plenty of water are good steps to make sure your body is in tip top shape. If you feel you need to do some housekeeping in your body, do a food journal as mark your feelings at those meals, an example would be had “2 oz of turkey for dinner and a side salad with oil and vinegar, I was feeling happy before that meal.” Do this for a few day also logging any exercise and how much sleep you got. After a few days sit down and look at your journal, notice any patterns. Like why am I always snaking at 8pm, notice your feelings at the time, were you anxious and eating an unhealthy snack? Or were you in a good mood and had an apple. To do some body housekeeping, write in a red pen on the food journal from the past few days, the little changes that you can make such as try a walk at 8pm instead of snacking. Continue a food journal and once a week, do some housekeeping. It can help you feel better and start new habits. The times I have done this I notice my eating behaviors and work to fix them. When I ignore it, I tend to eat unhealthier choices. Just because I had surgery doesn’t mean I always make the right choices, the surgery didn’t rewire my brain and I am still human. We all make mistakes and mess up our “diets.” Just remember tomorrow is a new day to get back to eating right. Diets don’t work, I have learned this. Eating healthy does.
