Well the big day has come and gone! Monday’s RNY (gastric bypass) surgery went great. My surgery started about 7:00 am and I was out of recovery and in my room at 12:30 pm. By 2:30 pm I had taken my first post surgery walk around the unit. I came home yesterday (Wednesday) at noon. I’ve been doing pretty good, mostly in a lot of pain on my left side where they did most of the work. Haven’t had any gas pain yet either. When I had my sleeve I had gas pains pretty bad and less incisional pain, this time it’s the other way around. I have a drain in on my right side, I will have it in until my first post-op office visit on the 24th where they will take it out. I also have to have another upper GI swallow that day to double check for leaks since I am a revisional surgery. I also have an abdominal binder to wear, which helps a lot. Nothing too exciting other than taking it easy and getting my fluids and walking in. I am on a clear liquid diet until after my first office visit on the 24th, then I will move to full liquids and start my protein supplements.

Waiting to go back to the operating room!
